What's New and Improved in Embarcadero RAD Studio 10.3.3 Version 26.0.36039.7899

If you are a developer who uses Embarcadero RAD Studio, you might be interested in knowing what's new and improved in the latest version of this powerful integrated development environment (IDE). Embarcadero RAD Studio 10.3.3 Version 26.0.36039.7899, also known as 10.3 Rio Release 3, is now available for download for any active Update Subscription customer. This release adds new capabilities and enhancements throughout the product, designed to benefit Delphi multi-device developers and C++ Windows developers.

In this article, we will highlight some of the key features and improvements that you can find in Embarcadero RAD Studio 10.3.3 Version 26.0.36039.7899.

Delphi Android 64-bit Support

One of the most anticipated features of this release is the support for Android 64-bit application development with Delphi. This means that you can now build Google Play Store ready Android 64-bit applications with Delphi, complete with Android App Bundle support. This will allow you to reach a large customer base of Android users who use devices that require 64-bit apps.

To support Android 64-bit development, Embarcadero has introduced a new Delphi compiler for the Android 64-bit platform, based on the LLVM compiler infrastructure. This compiler is feature-compatible with the Android 32-bit compiler and it has support for the ARC memory model like all other Delphi mobile platform compilers (iOS 32- and 64-bit, and Android 32-bit). The compiler also supports the FireMonkey library and all FireMonkey controls previously available on the Android 32-bit platform, as well as the database RTL and the FireDAC client access library.

In addition, Embarcadero has made some improvements in FMX support for the Android platform, for both 64-bit and 32-bit apps, such as native controls and FMX styled controls on the same Android form, support for Unicode Emoji, and material design theme for Android 5.0 or higher.

iOS 13 and macOS Catalina Support

Another important feature of this release is the support for targeting the iOS 13 App Store and macOS Catalina with Delphi apps. This means that you can now build App Store ready iOS 13 mobile applications with Delphi, complete with Dark Theme support. You can also target the macOS App Store with 64-bit macOS Catalina Delphi apps, complete with notarization support.

To support iOS 13 and macOS Catalina development, Embarcadero has updated the iOS SDK to version 13 and the macOS SDK to version 10.15. The IDE also supports deploying iOS apps using Xcode's Application Loader tool or Transporter app.

C++Builder users can also target iOS 13 with C++ apps using the Clang-enhanced compilers.

RAD Server Docker Deployment

If you are using RAD Server to develop and deploy multi-tier applications, you will be happy to know that this release includes RAD Server Docker deployment and configuration support through built-in scripts. Embarcadero also provides a pre-built Docker image for RAD Server on Linux, hosted on Docker Hub.

This feature will make it much easier for you to configure and deploy your RAD Server applications on Linux using Docker containers, which are lightweight and portable software packages that contain everything you need to run an application.

C++17 Support for Windows 64-bit

For C++ Windows developers, this release brings C++17 support for Windows 64-bit applications using the Clang-enhanced compilers. C++17 is the latest version of the C++ standard that introduces many new features and enhancements to the language and the standard library.

Some of the C++17 features that are supported by Embarcadero include:

  • Structured bindings

  • Fold expressions

  • Inline variables

  • Nested namespaces

  • Class template argument deduction

  • constexpr if statements

  • std::optional

  • std::variant

  • std::any

  • std::string_view

  • std::filesystem

Enterprise Connector Subscription License

Last but not least, this release adds more value and capabilities to the Enterprise and Architect editions of Embarcadero RAD Studio by including an Enterprise Connector subscription license for each user. Enterprise Connectors are powerful drivers that provide easy-to-use data access to various cloud and on-premise data sources such as Salesforce, Dynamics CRM, SharePoint, MongoDB, Couchbase, Oracle Database Cloud Service, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Apache Cassandra, Magento, FreshBooks, MailChimp, QuickBooks Online, ServiceNow, Xero Accounting Software, Zoho CRM and many more.

With Enterprise Connectors, you can easily connect your Delphi or C++Builder applications to any data source using standard ODBC or JDBC interfaces without writing any code or complex queries.
